Hi
Hoping somebody here can clue me in as to what's going on with this new OnePlus3. ..
Upon first setting it up, went ahead and checked option to move everything over from my previous phone, which was a rooted Nexus5 running MM6.0.1 w Cataclysm Mod over stock system and ElementalX kernel. Ever since, I've spent a bunch of time here trying to remove unneeded duplicate apps, reauthorize those apps I've already paid for, and generally try to make the new phone as comfortable to use as the old Nexus5 was.
Started thinking about whether to root the phone or wait until v3.1.4 is released. Found a thread that stated that one could use the stock Recovery to flash Oxygen v3.0.3, so decided to see what that original Recovery looked like on this new phone. I'd been so used to TWRP with my previous phones, but always used official releases. Unfortunately, at the moment, the only versions of TWRP for the OnePlus3 seem to be unofficial. So I was curious, went ahead and pressed Vol with Power button and suddenly there was some kind of menu, but all in CHINESE!! Four lines, but I had no idea what they were. On first line was something about USB (the only English letters). Got panicked, don't really remember what I did in order to exit. Wished that I could somehow access the battery and just pull power off. Eventually, I must have hit the right button and shut it off somehow, Very relieved ... But I wonder if I screwed something up in the process. Why would a phone meant for the USA leave their recovery menu in Chinese characters? The Nexus5 was always so reliable and comfortable to use.
Now I'm really ready to start all over from the way this new phone arrived, pristine from the manufacturer. Would basically just like to run Oxygen 3.1.3 for a while unrooted. Then, after 3.1.4 is released, go ahead and unlock bootloader, install an official TWRP, decide on a rooted daily ROM to use together with ElementalX kernel for OnePlus3. Hope by then everything will be in English. It's a shame, specs are so good, but the feel is so different, buttons seem in the wrong place for my hand, exterior too slippery...
Ah well, sorry for the long rant ...
