Moving to marshmallow?

Just received a T-Mobile Edge plus 64gb. Was nervous about moving to marshmallow since my recent v10 took a huge downfall in performance after going to marshmallows. So is lollipop better or should I upgrade to marshmallow. I am looking into rooting to remove all the extra bloatware and maybe a small theme mod
